A //total conversion// (abbrev. //TC//) is a [[mod]] that not only enhances or subtly alters the original game but changes the entire emphasis and setting (often affecting every element) of the game. 

Some good examples are the [[aliens_tc]] and the [[doom_64_absolution|Doom 64: Absolution TC]].
